Fall Mixed Media Projects

Hi Everyone! I feel like I’ve neglected this blog for a little bit and this will be pretty quick since I have a cold and am not feeling so great. I’ve been taking Christy Tomlinson’s Pumpkins and Cider workshop for the past few weeks. What a blast!! I adore Christy and her courses are always so much fun and inspiring. I created a few really cute Halloween character canvases, but am waiting to show those, as I’m using them as part of my DT reveal in a few weeks at Frosted Designs. I will feature them here as well right before Halloween. They are super cute! What I CAN share with you right now, however, is my fall pumpkin canvas. This canvas is full of texture! Check it out:

In addition to that cute canvas, I went to Goodwill last week and had myself a treasure hunt. I found this super heavy plaster plaque thingie that had all of this ugly fruit on it. When I saw it though, I could totally see it as a tombstone. So I covered it in gesso and went to work on creating a background for this haunted house. My daughter doesn’t like scary Halloween stuff (and to be honest neither do I) so we made it a little bit more of a fun and whimsical kind of project.

I should also add that I bought the stand that it’s sitting in at Goodwill also. It was a hideous brass thing that I just sprayed down with some glossy black spray paint. I love spray paint! I also picked up a ceramic bowl for a dollar, painted it hot pink, and threw all of my washi tapes in there. So cool!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope to get some more journal pages cranked out since we are in the middle of the month now and that is my best opportunity for creating. Now I’m off to make some hot tea for this throat!!!
